Papa's Cold River Apple Cobbler
Mix:
2 Cups Flower
2 Cups Sugar
Then Mix in:
2 Sticks Margerine - (Melted)
2 Eggs
Cinnamon and Ground Nutmeg
- Lightly grease dutch oven ( or spray with Pam)
- Slice 15 apples into 12" dutch oven, sprinkle with cinnamon & nutmeg
(2 cans of apple pie filling will do in a pinch)
- Cover with Dough
- Cook (~18 coals on top & 12 underneath) at ~350 for ~ 1 hour
- Cook until brown on top (or until you're just too hungry to wait.)
- Cooking time may be 35-45 min. in coals
- (Can add chopped walnuts to fruit or dough ~1/2-1 Cup)
Substitute: Cherries, Berries, Peaches, etc. for apples as desired
Traditional container used is a 12 quart covered dutch oven
Other containers that work well: Pyrex Lasagna Pan, Ceramic Dutch Oven, 2 Bread Pans
